Joint Ventures Are Free and The Results Can Be Astounding
One of my favorite methods of reaching thousands of new prospects, potential customers, leads, etc., is to team up with someone else and do a "Joint Venture."
A joint venture is simply the process of finding other like-minded individuals that you can work with to increase both of your incomes. When you're in the business of marketing, you'll come into contact with many people that will want to work with you. They usually just like your business and have an idea of how they could help increase your profits. Or you might be the one that finds a person that has something to offer your business. It can go either way. But the most common joint ventures occur when one person is a great marketer and the other is a great producer of a product or service.
That's how I got involved in my first joint venture. Eight years ago, I was an internet marketer just barely paying the bills with my income. Then I approached a software programmer who was trying to sell his software on his own but without much luck.
Programmers usually aren't the best marketers. They usually have a very analytical mind that is good at problems solving, mathematics, science, data entry, foreign language, etc., but not many programmers are great sales people. And that's where I came in. I found this programmer one day while surfing around on Yahoo and it looked like his prices were wrong for the market he was in. I found many other things that I felt were all wrong on his website, but I could see he had a good product. He just didn't know how to market it properly.
So I sent him an email proposing a deal (Joint Venture.) I simply suggested that he allow me to begin marketing his software and we would split the profits 50/50. In that email I really had to sell myself so he would see that I know what I'm talking about and that I was not just going to waste his time. I wrote some very powerful and compelling words in that email to him and I asked him to at least just try me out for a few weeks. I said "If I haven't at least doubled the amount of sales you're currently getting within a few weeks, I'll leave you alone and you can go back to the way you were doing things before I stepped in. He agreed and within two years I had helped us gross over a half million dollars.
Do you see how amazing joint ventures like that are? I went from having no product to having about 5 different software programs that I basically owned part of the rights to. I could have never done that on my own because it would literally have taken me at least 5 years to write all 5 of those software programs. And that's assuming I have the ability, time, and patience to learn how to be a programmer. I probably could not have done it. I'm just not a programmer type of person. I'm a marketer. That's just what I do best.
And that's what joint ventures are all about. Joint ventures combine the skills of two or more people that have a very specialized skill and combine the skills to create a perfect mixture.
Joint ventures can also be used to get free advertising. As I said up above, one of my favorite methods of reaching thousands of new prospects, potential customers, leads, etc., is to team up with someone else and do a "Joint Venture."
How do I get thousands of new prospects and potential customers by doing joint ventures. Well as you can see in my first joint venture I got my own products from the deal. Or at least half of my own products. But I've done other joint ventures where I found someone that has thousands of opt-in, permission based lists of leads and prospects. Every day I come into contact with other marketers that have huge lists of email addresses. And
I'm
not talking about spamming. These lists are their own personal lists of customers and prospects that have provided their email address and name on a lead generation website. Lead generation websites are just sites that offer you a something free in exchange for your name and email address along with permission to email you offers in the future.
So I'm not talking about spam lists that spammers use to irritate us and push their products on to us unwillingly. No, these lists are willing recipients who have given their email address and permission to email them. And I have met several people that specialize in this fine art of lead generation and have up to 50 different websites out on the net capturing names and email addresses of qualified people in their target market.
If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend you ask these type of people with massive lists if you can team up with them and do a joint venture. And you may be saying "What do I have to offer them in return for access to their huge list of email addresses?" If nothing else, you can tell them
you'd
like to help them write ad copy for their existing products to help them sell better. Or if you already have a product or service, you can offer them a part of the profits from the result obtained from their mailing list. That's the most common type of joint venture that I come across. It's very popular to offer a percentage your profits to someone who is doing a bulk emailing for you or who has just given you a copy of their master list. This is one of my favorite joint ventures and I've made obscene amounts of money from these joint ventures.
