My Luck With Joint Ventures Can Now Be Your Fortune

I was lucky. Seven years ago, I found out the easy way how to avoid all the mistakes the other marketers were making. I decided to skip the whole idea of promoting affiliate programs and just go right for the throat! I learned the power of joint ventures.

What I realized back in 1996 was that if I was going to make serious money on the internet, I was going to need to keep 100% of my profits. At that time, most of the internet marketers were signing up with affiliate programs that only paid them a small percentage of the profits. Even 50% commissions is ridiculously low! That may surprise you, but you'll see why I say that as you continue reading down below as I tell you how a single joint venture changed my life.

Let's get back on track and go back to that magical time in 1996 when I found out how to make "REAL" money by using the simple resources you see every day at places like Tacos.com and Download.com

I was a newbie to the internet back then, but it only took me one month of surfing around this crazy internet to realize that the people making all the money were not signing up with little affiliate programs. No, the people raking in all the cash back then were the software owners. The people that owned the rights to their own software programs had hit gold! But only if they had a good marketer behind them. (This is where you're about to come into the picture.)

Am I telling you to go out and learn to write software? NO WAY! I tried that and wasted a whole year stressing out over a bunch of foreign computer code and realized that writing my own software was not the secret either.

Since there was no way on earth I had the patience to blow 2 years away writing my own software program, I came up with a much bigger and better idea that I'm about to share with you below.

I realized that software programmers mostly all have one thing in common. They aren't very good at marketing. They're good at sitting in front of a computer in a cool dark room typing computer code, but not so good at marketing. So I saw a huge opportunity to exploit their lack of marketing knowledge. Well, maybe exploit is too strong of a word. Let's just say I found a way I could help programmers while making myself a fortune at the same time.

I knew a little about marketing and joint ventures back then, so I figured all I had to do was go shopping through huge directories of software like tucows.com and download.com to find some no-name unheard of software that I could give a complete face-lift. Maybe even rename and re-brand while I was at it.

I did just that. But I didn't want to make my living with a boring product so I looked around at the types of software that excited and inspired me the most. I found a software program that really made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end! It was actually a type of online marketing software and there were several different titles for me to choose from. I downloaded a few that looked like they were failing. I picked software that mostly looked like a failure on the outside but was good solid code on the inside.

Basically I picked extremely useful programs that were good quality on the inside yet ugly on the outside.

I could see that many of the software titles were being so poorly marketed that there was no way anyone was buying the stuff. I took one look at their ugly website and horrible ad copy and knew this programmer wasn't selling much. It's easy to find an ugly company. They're all over the net.

Anyway, by selecting such a poor looking software program, I knew there would be a starving programmer on the other end of that software wishing it would sell better. And I was going to be the person that helped them while helping myself.

So I called these programmers up or emailed them if they didn't have a phone number listed on their website. I made them each a joint venture proposal that went something like this:

"Hi my name is Jason Ryan and I own a marketing firm. And I can make your sales go through the roof with a few simple phone calls to my distributor network"

Well, I wasn't any big time marketer. I was brand new to the internet. But I had a company name and a business checking account so why couldn't I call myself the ownerof a marketing firm? I just made it up, but it worked.

I didn't have a distributor network. At least not yet, but hey, what's wrong with a little optimistic bending of the truth in the name of the American dollar!

He was impressed with my story and he said "Go ahead I'm open to making a deal with you."

I made him an offer that turned me into the owner of his software company. Of course I had to put it in writing that he'd get a small percentage of the royalties from the total sales I made on his software.

By the end of 2 years, he was actually making a serious profit, and I was almost ready to retire by age 29. All because of a nice Joint Venture.

Since I review business opportunities and internet gurus all day for a living, you can guess I know which ones work and which ones don't. Click here to see how I make my money.
