Lance Young
In 1996 Lance Young wrote his first course on real estate investing. He called it "How To Buy Preforeclosure Houses For Big Profits". He later wrote three more books titled: "How To Make Big Money With Probate Houses", "How To Buy Bank Repossessed Houses For Big Profits", and "How To Make Big Money At Foreclosure Auctions". According to his website, it looks like you can buy all four of these for $97.
Lance started out buying and selling preforeclosure and bank repossessed houses. Later, he began investing in probate houses. Lance Young has been involved in real estate investing since all the way back to 1987.
He says on his website: "You're coming to the homeowners' rescue... You'll have homeowner's thanking you" (Yah, while, you're profiting from their
property) He paints a picture that this is truly a win-win situation for both of you and it's a business you can be proud of. Well, I've talked to people from both sides of the fence and the home owner generally isn't all that happy during these tough times. So I disagree with him on that. I think he's just trying to sugar coat one of the saddest times in a home owners life. I think it would be better if he just admitted you have to be hard hearted in this business, not someone who pretends it's a community service.
One of his main strategies is to buy foreclosed homes and probate homes "dirt-cheap" with a tiny deposit around ten dollars, then immediately flip them for instant profits. Lance Young claims to average about $100 an hour by following his own real estate strategy, and he claims you can do the same thing.
Lance may be right if you've got it within you to be a hard-headed business person, and accept that you're profiting from people during their hard times. But the way Lance Young tells it, he's like a knight in shining armor. But I'm sorry... I don't see a white knight in this picture. I see more of a picture of a vulture circling overhead, while families below struggle with bills. Lance Young is probably a really great guy. I just
don't
care for the way he talks about making money from distress as if it's something to really be proud of. Just tell it like it is. It's an ugly business with vultures flying around.
