How often should I send out a mailing to my list?

Don't do mailings to your list more than once a week. If you mail to your list more than once a week, you'll just end up irritating your readers and more of them will start asking to be removed from your list. So once a week is the maximum. Even doing a mailing once a week might be too often for your particular list if you aren't telling the readers of your list anything exciting or newsworthy. In this case, you may need to keep your mailings down to twice a month. The more exciting and informative your emails are to your readers, the more often you can get away with mailing to them.

How long should my email advertisements be?

A page and a half seems to get the best results. Try your hardest to keep all of your email advertisements a page and a half or less. If you need to say more than that, then put the rest on a website and provide a link to that website at the end or middle of your email ad. In fact the whole point of your email ad should be to get the reader to go to your website. Don't try to explain details and do heavy duty selling in your email ads. The point of your email ads should simply be to get the reader curious so they'll click on the link to your website you've provided in your email ad. There is only one goal with email ads and that's to get the reader to click on a website address that's at the end of your email ad.

Will I get a better response from my mailings if I personalize each email with the recipient's first name?

Yes, absolutely! This is one small thing you can do to separate yourself from all the spammers. Most of the time spammers don't have the actual names of the people in their lists. They usually just have your email address. There are a few exceptions like when spammers get access to lists that have the recipients names included. But most of the worst, disgusting, vial, nasty, worthless spam has one thing in common. Take a look at your most disturbing spam emails and you'll notice none of them have your first name in the subject line.

However, you'll find that the more professional emails that are for quality products and generally polite are the emails more likely to contain your first name.

The hard-core spammers, that we all hate the most, hardly ever have our names. So we tend to think an email with our name in the subject line is less likely to be spam. Plus, we have been programmed since the first time we started using the internet and email to open all emails with our name in them. So if you want to make your emails stand out from all the spam, and you want to get them opened and read, then be sure to get the first names too, when ever you're building an email list.
