Miller Heiman
Miller Heiman is a sales training firm that holds over 200 workshops each
year in various locations, typically lasting 1-3 days. They seem aimed
towards large corporations or sales teams with big accounts, and also have
managerial classes. While the descriptions of their courses are
professional, I'd still like to see sample materials of some kind sample
video before spending $2,500 and more importantly, spending a weekend at a
workshop.
Of course they do have an online book store with very affordable material
if money or time is an issue. This is high end reading folks, and probably
not for the small potatoes business owner. If you have an MBA and need a
refresher on how to refine your strategic account management techniques,
well you're in luck. Have a sales team that does world wide sales to big
accounts? Yep they can probably help. Did you just open a gourmet dog food
web site? Nah I'd not recommend them at this point.
They have a large International presence in Europe and Asia, and I'd think
if you have a worldwide company (or plans to open an overseas office) they
would be the place to go for regional sales consulting as business and the
culture is very different is many parts of the world. Overall, Miller
Heiman looks like a good choice for large, international, or soon to be
international companies that want advanced sales training on big accounts
or ones who do complicated transactions. However, if you just opened a hot
dog stand and find their sales copy overwhelming, then it might be time to
look for something geared more towards the small business owner.
