Are Certain Months Really Bad Times To Advertise?
by Jason Ryan Isaksen
During the months of June, July, and August, many people
are away on
vacation so I wouldn't recommend placing any expensive ads during these
months. Most years I don't really do any advertising at all during
those
months, except for Pay-Per-Click Search engines. But some years I don't
even do those during the slow months. During those slow months of June,
July, and August, I try to just relax and take some vacation time
myself.
And while relaxing during this slow period, it's often a great time to
work
on creative business tasks like creating new products or services,
re-doing
your website, writing articles, books, courses, etc.
During those slow months, my phone doesn't ring much so
I don't get
interrupted constantly so it's the best time to work on projects I
can't
work on during the normal hustle and bustle when things are busy. I get
a
lot done during those slow times, but I don't expect to make a lot of
sales,
run a lot of ads, or answer the phone a lot during those months. Just
don't
panic when your sales slow way down during those months. It's
completely
normal. It's also normal for business and your amount of orders/sales
to slow way down during any holidays and on weekends.
One of the best business rules of thumb I follow is
extremely basic and goes
like this: During the cold months, orders, sales, business etc. will be
good because everyone is at home and not out goofing around in the sun.
And
conversely, during the warm/hot months, things will be much slower
because
of vacations and just playing in the sun and water. This is why I spend
most of my advertising budget during those cool months and I am a very
aggressive marketer during those months. I get my best response during
those months.
