Do I Use A Long-Copy Sales Letter Or Short Sales Letter?
by Jason Ryan Isaksen

There is an on-going debate about whether long sales letters work better than short sales letters or if it's the other way around. From my experience, long sales letters always work better than short ones. But long sales letters that aren't making any strong points or making the reader curious don't work.

Obviously, if you have a long sales letter that is not well written but just long, it's not going to get good results. But if you are an expert in your industry and know how to show this to your readers, they will not be able to stop reading your materials. They will often times read a 10 page sales letter if you appear to be an expert on the subject they're interested in. Long copy sells if it's new and inventive.

The main point is this: If you're selling a product that cost more than $50, you're going to need at least a 4 or 5 page sales letter that is well written and shows what an expert about this type of product you are. A little half-page description of what you're selling is not going to make any sales for you!

A good guide to let you know how long your sales letter should be is this: For every $10 you are trying to get your reader to spend, you should have at least a half page of sales letter. A half page for each $10 you're trying to get. For example a $30 product will require at least one and a half pages of sales copy to achieve the best results.

And if you're selling a product that only costs $10, you could get away with only a half page of sales copy because most people don't think of $10 as a big deal to spend. It's just not a big purchase price. But if you're selling a course like the one you're reading right now that costs around $300, you better have at least 15 pages of long sales copy. Again, this is just a rough guideline.

This guide is flexible and you may need to make your own changes to the size of your own sales materials. Long copy and long sales letters work excellent when they are well crafted, exciting and manage to mix in a little curiosity! As you may know, I'm a big fan of long copy and use it in all my own sales letters.
