Is It Really That Important To Have A Secure Server?
by Jason Ryan Isaksen
How can you tell if you're on a Secure Server?
Another thing you're website will need on the order page
is a secure server.
Now this is no big deal. Usually the company you're hosting your site
with
can get you a secure server page for only a couple bucks a month or in
many
cases at no extra charge. What is a secure server?
It's just a 3rd party
company that is verifying that it's safe for a customer to type their
credit
card info on your order form. The most important thing for you to know
and
understand about secure servers is that everybody expects you to have
one.
And if you skip this part, and just decide to use your order page
without a
secure server, you're customers and potential customers will see this
and be
skeptical about placing an order on your website.
How can you tell if an order page is secure?
Simple, when you look at an order form on the internet,
you'll almost always
see https instead of just http. That little letter "s" makes all the
difference and if people are on your order page and don't see the "s"
after
http, then you just lost an order. In fact often times if a potential
customer clicks your order button, and you don't have a secure order
form,
that person will get a warning message telling them that they should be
skeptical about placing an order with you.
Go ahead and look at some other
peoples order pages right now, and you'll see they all start with
https.
Actually you may find some website owners who aren't very smart and
don't
have the "https" but all of the serious and most successful website
owners
will display the "https" on their order form page.
Again, getting a secure page on a secure server is no
big deal. It's just a
small technicality that you must be sure you take care of unless you
want to
watch money slip through your fingers.
