Watching Your Competitors Vs. Spying on Competitors
by Jason Ryan Isaksen
Spying on your competitors on a regular basis thoroughly
inspect their offers, products, and services is mandatory. You'll
easily find opportunities to give yourself a major advantage over them.
You could do any number of things to have a better offer than your
competition such as giving prospects and customers more attention,
showing off your superior knowledge of the industry and related
products and services, better guarantee, free shipping, free bonus
gifts, better quality products, better technical support, free set-up,
free installation and much more. These days it's so easy to spy on
competitors you have no excuse not to.
But never tear your competition to shreds when talking
to a customer. Bad
mouthing your competitors just makes you look bad. It takes away your
own
credibility. It's ok to point out a few things that make you, your
products and services better than your competitors, but just don't slam
them too hard.
People are smart and they know it's basically not very
professional to "Bad Mouth" someone when they're not even around to
defend themselves. When you present your own offer in an impressive
fashion there is not need to tear the competition apart and your
customers will respect you for this. And they will see for themselves
how much better you are than the competition.
Can you see why making subtle references to why the
competition is inferior is better than just saying it out-right? Let
your customers soak up your subtle hints about why it would be a
mistake to go with the competition and you'll get more respect than you
know what to do with. But this whole process starts out by spying on
your competition.
