Susan RoAne

Susan RoAne is a public speaker and author of several titles about the social aspects of networking. Her titles specialize in things like public speaking, socializing in groups like trade shows or conferences, and the face to face situations of business and social settings. Many people have a smart business acumen but very underdeveloped social skills with can be just as important when networking to build clients or contacts on the corporate ladder.

Of all Susan RoAne's titles I'd probably recommend most "How to Create Your Own Luck : The You Never Know Approach to Networking, Taking Chances, and Opening Yourself to Opportunity" as reviews on Amazon were much less mixed than her other books. It would probably be much better to see Susan RoAne speak in person as her strengths lay in her social skills and public speaking, and that's much harder to communicate in a book that seeing her live would be.

Overall I think Susan RoAne's books would be good for someone who's very shy and wants to work on their skills. Probably better would be if you have a company meeting coming up and need a charismatic "people person" to give a talk to break up some of the other, more boring speakers. Her social skills would make for a good presentation for management or sales teams, or any corporate employee that has to travel often and socialize with strangers a lot.

I do think she's missing an opportunity by not making a DVD series of her best speeches since the social theme of her material would lend well to a series people could watch at home or a training series sold to corporations to for employees to go through along with orientation classes. Somehow putting social networking and public speaking advice into book form just doesn't do her justice. I'd like to see and hear her techniques for working a crowd on video instead and if she got permission to record her performances for clients it would be an easy way to produce them.
