Words That Get Peoples Attention and Sell!
Some words do a better job than others when it comes to grabbing the attention of your readers and getting them to take their wallets out. Below is a list of words that have been scientifically tested and proven to be pleasing to consumers as a whole:
On Sale! Love, New, Free, Safe, Alternative, Value, Now, Happy, Money, Advice, Security, You, Benefits, Right, Healthy, How To, Guarantee, Discover, Secret, Solution, Easy, Simple, Fast, Quick, Precious, Your, Solution, Magic, Proud, Comfortable, First, Proven, The Truth, Romance, Shock, Profit, Relax etc.
Also be sure to use the words "You," Yours," You're," "Your," and "You'll" as much as you can in your ads. Never say "The new book will arrive in 7 days." Instead, always say "Your new book will arrive in 7 days."
Here's another example: Never say "People always love this product." Instead say "You'll love this product."
Try to avoid saying "I", "You", "Me", and "We" etc. Nobody wants to hear about you because everyone is pretty wrapped up in their own little universe and "what's in it for me?"
Keep your ad copy focused on the concept of helping people to avoid the need to fear loss and how you can help them gain more pleasure. Those two basic primitive things are really all men or women care about when you get down to the nuts and bolts.
Helping your readers deal with their "Fear of loss" is the most powerful emotion you can sell to. People are sick and tired of losing and missing out and people and things leaving their lives. There's a whole lot of pain and most people aren't looking for any more. So when you write ad copy it's very effective to talk about the things "you may lose" or the "risk you may be taking" by not purchasing this item. Likewise people get motivated to buy from you when they feel like something is being wasted if they don't purchase from you.
Once you've finished writing your ad copy/sales material, don't send it out or post it to your website right away. Instead, set it aside for a day or two and then read it again. As you read it again(at least 24 hours later)you'll usually find all sorts of things that could be written much better and more clear. But for some reason these new ideas and new ways to re-write your material only happen after letting your first draft site for a day or two.
Next after you've waited at least 24 hours and finished your second draft of your sales material, it's time to have some friends, family members, or business associates read it for you. Ask them if anything is unclear and what their overall opinion and impression of the sales material is. Since as marketers, we all tend to fall in love with our own ad copy, it's very important to get the perspective of someone other than yourself. After reading and re-reading the same thing for so long, it becomes more difficult to see the problems it may have. Hopefully you now understand the types of words that sell.
