ElectrIQ 24000 BTU Hitachi Powered Wall Air conditioner

100%

The ElectrlQ 24000 performed quite well on energy efficiency despite it being a very powerful wall air conditioner. It also comes with a rating of A+ which we liked. Its powerful performance meant that it could suck out stale air from a large room within minutes making it ideal for large houses and offices.

Similar to the 12000 BTU Smart WIFI Wall Mounted Air Conditioning Unit, we found that this air conditioner comes pre-gassed and with a 5 m kit. We also had the option of getting the 10 m pipe together with the cable kit for easier installation.

However, this was an even heavier equipment than the 12000 BTU Smart WIFI Wall Mounted Air Conditioning Unit weighing nearly 70 kgs. This also meant that we needed an extra set of hands to put it in place. It is not the equipment that you want to install on your own.

For the average household, they would need the assistance of a professional to install the unit in their houses or offices which means extra costs. We also found the 5m pipe to be quite limited especially when dealing with larger rooms.

ElectrIQ ElectrlQ 18000 BTU Wall Split Air Conditioner

98%

What we instantly noticed with the design of this air conditioner is the multi-split control. This meant that we could regulate the air in two different rooms. Its 18000 BTU capacity makes it quite powerful enough and ideal for medium sized houses. This AC is quite convenient as we found that the two units ran off the single main unit.

We also liked that the AC saved on space and the fact that it was very energy efficient having a rating of A++. This unit can also be used in the office, and its energy efficiency meant that users could save on money as well.

The main downside was the size. At 75 kgs, this is quite the heavy equipment. This means that to do installation, you will need the assistance of a professional which brings with it extra costs. Simply putting it in place was not very easy though the installation process is relatively straightforward.

TCL 12000 BTU Smart WIFI Wall Mounted Air Conditioner

100%

Similar to the 12000 BTU Panasonic Powered Wall Split Air Conditioner, we found the TCL to be extremely energy efficient. This meant that it could continuously run for a long period of time without causing a spike in the electricity bills while still able to perform at full power. We also found that it was rated A+++ as far as energy efficient goes which is something that we liked.

Another thing that we were keen on was the 3-in-1 functionality. The wall air conditioner is able to provide dehumidifying, heating as well as cooling function in one package. This meant that there was no need to get a separate equipment which saved on money as well as space.

We wanted to find out how convenient it was as a home use equipment and found that it performed quietly. Placed just a few meters, there was really no noise from the equipment. This also made it ideal to use in offices.

We liked that the TCL wall air condition came pre-gassed and had a 5m pole. This made it less time consuming to install the equipment.

The main drawback has to do with the weight of the AC. At nearly 30 kilos, this is not the lightest equipment. We also found that we needed an extra set of hands to install.

ElectrIQ 12000 BTU Panasonic Powered Wall Air Conditioner

100%

We first noticed the rating of the ElectrlQ. It is A+ rated which means that it was highly energy efficient. This is also something that we found out after carrying out test on the air conditioner. A second thing that we noted was that the ElectrlQ is super quiet. This makes it an ideal air conditioner for using at home or at the office as there are minimal distractions from the noise.

The air conditioner was rated at 12000 British thermal units making it a powerful equipment which we particularly liked. It could easily regulate the air in a larger room. We also found that this was a simple to fit equipment and came with a 5-meter pipe.

However, we noted that due to its powerful functioning, it could end up sucking out all the warm air and replacing it with very cool air. This created yet another issue where we had to try and make the room warm again.

Diloc Diloc 9000BTU Wall Air Conditioner Review

94%

We liked the smaller capacity of the Diloc. It proved useful in smaller sized rooms. The design was also small compared to some of the larger models that we tested such as the ElectrlQ 24000 BTU Hitachi Powered Wall Split Air conditioner.

When we were installing the Diloc, we found the process to be quick and easy which we attributed to the relatively small size of the equipment. This wall AC also comes with a dehumidifier function which meant that there was really no need to get a separate equipment.

It also features a sleep function which automatically turns it off when you need the equipment to take a break.

The downside is that we found a bit of condensation on the equipment which occurred on the indoor casted.

What Is the Wall Air Conditioners?

A wall air conditioner is a unit that dispels hot air and humidity from the room while also bringing in cool fresh air from outside. They function in much the same way as window air conditioners only in this case they are fixed on the wall.

What Are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Wall Air Conditioners?

Window air conditioners will often limit the way you use your window. Even when you want to let in even more light or fresh air, the window conditioner gets in the way. Wall mounted air conditioners do not bring such issues.

Second, compared to window air conditioners that can be easily reached by burglars, wall mounted air conditioners can be installed virtually anywhere you deem fit which means that burglars will not get to them easily.

Saving space is another benefit with wall mounted air conditioners. Compared to standing or cabinet air conditioners, which will need their own space, wall mounted air conditioners can be installed up on the wall where they will not get in the way.

However, wall mounted air conditioners do come with their own set of cons. Firstly the units are normally not powerful enough to cool the entire house and are often only effective in single rooms.

Installing the wall mounted air conditioner is a bit more expensive than with the window AC. It needs access to outside air which means you will have to drill a hole through the wall.

What’s the Approximate Price Range for Wall Air Conditioners?

Wall air conditioners are expensive gadgets and that is why you need to have the right information when buying. Prices range from £400 to over £900.

What’s Should I Look for When Choosing a Wall Air Conditioner?

The first thing you need to know is that wall mounted air conditioners can only be installed on exterior walls. You thus need to be aware of the thickness of the wall as you will have to drill a hole for the vent. This will also determine the type of unit you are going to get.

Second you need to know the size of your room. Only then can you select the right air conditioner with the appropriate BTUs or British Thermal Units. The more the BTUs, the more powerful the wall air conditioner. If the room is small, you do not need an equipment with a high BTU.

The plug type is another crucial consideration. Most houses have wiring done to accommodate 12v por 15 amps. Getting a wall air conditioner that is higher than 15 amps will require you to upgrade the wiring of your house.

How Can We Install a Wall Air Conditioner on the Wall?

Installing a wall mounted AC is quite similar to installing the window AC. However, there are a few differences.

The first step is to check the manual of the wall mounted AC to see what you will need. This is especially true with units that require a backing plate or sleeve. If so, find out if you can obtain this at the local store.

If yours is a through the wall air conditioning unit, ensure that you select just the right spot on the walls of your house that has no wiring and offers an even air distribution.

It’s now time to mark out the dimensions of the wall air conditioners on the wall. While you can do this yourself it’s always best to seek the assistant of a qualified professional.

It is advisable to place your wall air conditioner on a frame. The equipment is heavy. Try using plywood or another type of wood for the frame.

After the unit has been put in place, the next and final step becomes filling any gaps with some insulation such as silicon.
